#00 Darrell Arthur, Sophomore Forward

Lucky for KU fans, Arthur’s mother, Sandra, introduced him to basketball at a very young age. When Shady isn’t busy rejecting opponents' shots and pulling down rebounds for the 'Hawks, he's at Jefferson's downtown enjoying hot wings between phone calls with his buddies. In his spotless dorm room, Arthur relaxes by watching Old School and playing "March Madness 2006."

 

 

#2 Connor Teahan, Freshman Guard

AuthurSeason Stats: 3-Point Percentage—.600

As the Jayhawks' newest heartthrob, Teahan's family of basketball players got him started on the game. His mother, father, uncle and grandfather all played the sport at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Mo. Teahan can't get enough of Mexican food and he enjoys mixing music on his computer's recording system in his spare time away from Allen Field House.

 

 

#3 Russell Robinson, Senior Guard

RobinsonSeason Stats: Assists—130, Free-Throw Percentage—.765

Known to his teammates as Russrob, this Bronx native chose the number 3 for religious reasons, after the Holy Trinity. He loves the Lakers and heads to Jefferson's to watch Kobe Bryant. When he's not playing basketball, Robinson spends time shopping and watching HGTV. He's also proud of his DVD collection, which numbers 250, including his favorite movie, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."

 

 

#4 Sherron Collins, Sophomore Guard

CollinsSeason Stats: Points—234, Assists—70

A Chi-town native, S Dot left his mom’s delicious chicken and his talents in baseball and football for the life of a KU basketball player. But Ron Ron is without regrets—give him a warm meal at Longhorn Steakhouse, a good book and some music to jam to before the big game, and he’s ready to put points on the board for the Jayhawks.

 

 

#5 Rodrick Stewart, Senior Guard

StewartSeason Stats: Field-goal Percentage —.486

R. Dot, son of the strongest man in the world, spends his free time singing his favorite tunes and playing Madden 2007. This year, he faced off against his twin brother, Lodrick, a guard for the University of Southern California Trojans. His favorite movie is "The Notebook," and his pregame ritual includes taking a shower.

 

 

#10 Jeremy Case, Senior Guard

CaseSeason Stats: Field-Goal Percentage—.357

For Case, basketball is in the blood—his college-coach father, who also wore No. 10, played with Coach Self at Oklahoma in the '80s, and his mother played ball at Seminole Junior College.

 

 

#11 Brennan Bechard, Junior Guard

BechardSeason Stats: 3-Point Percentage— .400

Lawrence native Bechard listens to music before each game. When he's not playing or practicing, you'll find him playing his favorite game, "March Madness." He's fashioned his skills after KU legend Kirk Hinrich and counts Dwyane Wade as his favorite NBA star.

 

 

#12 Brady Morningstar, Sophomore Guard

Morning StarFreshman Season Stats: 80 percent on free throws

Born and bred in Lawrence, B Rab grew up in a world of KU tradition. His father, Roger, was a standout player on Ted Owens' 1974 and '75 Big Eight Conference championship teams, making the Morningstar boys the sixth father-son combination to have played at KU. Morningstar chose basketball over his next-best talent—mowing the lawn.

 

 

#14 Tyrel Reed, Freshman Guard

Morning StarSeason Stats: 3-Point Percentage—.458

Tyreezy decided to take off his track cleats and state long jump honors for a basketball spot with the Jayhawks. The Burlington native wears the same number his father, Stacy, wore. Reed hopes to become a physical therapist upon graduation and his favorite subject is science. Before a game, T Squeeze prays and reads the bible.

 

 

#15 Mario Chalmers, Junior Guard

ChalmersSeason Stats: Steals—72 , Assists—135, Total points—363

Rio comes to KU by way of Anchorage, Alaska. He wears the same number his mom, Almarie, wore. Basketball is a family affair for Chalmers, whose cousin Lionel Chalmers played for Xavier and cousin Chris Smith played for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not many know that he considers himself a shy guy, ranks English as his favorite subject and is deathly afraid of snakes. Before each game, he has to take a shower and claims to keep a clean room.

 

 

#22 Chase Buford, Freshman Guard

ChalmersSeason Stats: 1.6 points per game

A San Antonio native, Buford molds his game after teammate Brad Witherspoon. Buf keeps his shoes tied perfectly, to make sure his shooting skills don't succumb to superstition. Hailing from Texas, Buford can't help but appreciate Mexican food and he enjoys spending time fishing in his spare time. His dad, R.C., was an assistant coach under Larry Brown and is now general manager of the San Antonio Spurs.

 

 

#24 Sasha Kaun, Senior Center

KaunSeason Stats: Rebounds—117, Blocks—42

Although KU fans know and love him as shot-blocker Sasha, his given name is Alexander. Kaun hadn't stepped foot on a court until he came to the U.S. from Russia to attend high school in Florida. Along with hitting the boards for KU, he also hits the books for his computer science classes, but always makes time for a study break to watch "Friends."

 

 

#25 Brandon Rush, Junior Guard

RushSeason Stats: Total Points—356, Rebounds—146

Off the court, you'll find Lil' Rush watching idol Will Smith kicking it old school in the Fresh Prince or playing video games at Jayhawker Towers. On the court, Rush models his moves after Kobe Bryant and plans to play basketball after college. His favorite movie is "Wedding Crashers," and the story behind his number is that Chalmers snatched his first choice, 15, so he settled on 25.

 

 

#32 Darnell Jackson, Senior Forward

JacksonSSeason Stats: Total Points —367, Rebounds —214

Jackson got his basketball start at the OKC boys and girls club. Today, he models his moves after Ben Wallace and pumps up for a big game with a nice nap. Off the court, Jackson enjoys enjoys reading and his favorite subject is history. He answers to D-Block or Big D, and you might be surprised to hear his middle name is Edred. Other hoop heroes include Shaq and Magic Johnson, in whose honor Jackson chose his number.

 

 

#40 Brad Witherspoon, Senior Guard

WhitherspoonJunior Season Stats: Turnovers—0

A high school basketball, football and track star, he finished his high school hoops career with 1,212 career points, the fourth-most in Humbolt high school's history. He'll be keeping a watchful eye on Coach Self—Witherspoon, a physical education major, has dreams of becoming a basketball coach.

 

 

#45 Cole Aldrich, Freshman Center

WhitherspoonSeason Stats: 8.8 Points per Game

This McDonald's All-American has made his fellow 'Hawks pround during his freshman season at KU. Aldrich's teammates call him Big C or Slaw, and he can be found bowling or watching South Park away from the court. Although Aldrich enjoys eating all food, he has been known to slap dill pickles on his pizza.

 

 

#54 Matt Kleinmann, Junior Forward

KleinmannSeason Stats: Field-Goal Percentage—.429

Before each game, Big Red reads Ephesians 6:10-18. His favorite actor is Clive Owen but says he'd pick Carrot Top to portray him in a movie of his life. Kansas born and bred, Kleinmann has worn the same number since his Blue Valley Rec days. Off the court, you're likely to find him playing "Call of Duty 2."
