Sunday, Oct. 1


Glow KU

Noon-9 p.m.
KU campus and Lawrence community

Show your school spirit by participating in Glow KU. Display red and blue lights outside your homes or places of business to light up Lawrence with crimson and blue. Leave your lights on all week to show your Jayhawk pride!


Jayhawk Jingles Auditions

4-7:30 p.m.
Adams Alumni Center

Can you sing and dance? Do you have KU spirit? Come try out to perform in the traditional Jayhawk Jingles scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5. (No groups may have more than 20 or less than 10 total participants)

Sign Competition

10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Watson Library Lawn

KU students’ creativity will be on display with the annual Sign Competition. Student groups decorate plywood signs with their interpretation of this year’s Homecoming theme.


Out of this World Trivia Night

7 p.m.
Adams Alumni Center

Participants are invited to test their knowledge at Out of this World Trivia Night. This event will take place Monday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. Teams should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Teams will consist of six members that will have the opportunity to compete for overall points. There will be three rounds of ten questions relating to Jayhawk and galactic trivia, with each round increasing in difficulty.

Chalk ‘n’ Rock

10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Wescoe Beach

Participating student groups decorate a pre-assigned square on Wescoe Beach with their chalk designs based on the Homecoming theme. (In case of inclement weather, Chalk ‘n’ Rock will be moved to Thursday, Oct. 5.)


Jayhawk Jingles Dress Rehearsals

6-8 p.m.

Hunt on the Hill

8 p.m.
Wescoe Beach

Hunt on the Hill will begin on Wescoe Beach at 8 p.m., teams should arrive by 7:45 p.m. to secure a spot in the hunt. Upon arrival teams will be given a number, this will be the number used throughout the search for clues. At every location, there will be a Homecoming Steering Committee member who will give them their next clue that is inside their team’s envelope. At each location, there will be a challenge for each team to complete. These challenges will range from easy to medium level of difficulty. All teams will end the search at Wescoe Beach.

CANstellation Jayhawk

10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Kansas Union Courtyard

Groups participating will be given a pre-assigned building space on the Kansas Union Courtyard where they will have from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to create a structure made entirely out of full cans of food, later to be donated to Just Food of Douglas County. Groups and individuals not wishing to participate in the competition are invited to donate canned goods for Just Food anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kansas Union Courtyard.


SUA and KJHK present: GoldLink — At What Cost North American Tour

7 p.m. Doors open
8 p.m. Show starts
The Granada

Join KU Homecoming, SUA, and KJHK in welcoming GoldLink to Lawrence, KS on his At What Cost North American Tour. The concert will take place at The Granada on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students with a KUID and $15 for General Admission. Tickets are available at the Kansas Union Welcome Center, The Granada Box Office, and online.

United Way Office Supply Drive

10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Adams Alumni Center

The Homecoming Steering Committee is partnering with United Way of Douglas County and sponsoring an office supply drive on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help provide office supplies for Community Village Lawrence. The Mission of Community Village Lawrence is to enhance quality of life for the entire community by helping neighbors remain in their homes as they age. We aim to do this by creating a network of supports and services following the Village model to make aging at home a long-term, affordable option. Items suggested for donation include printer paper, notebooks, file holders, and printer ink.

Homecoming Food Fest featuring Jayhawk Jingles

6-9 p.m.
Adams Alumni Center

This popular annual event includes free food, music and the traditional Jayhawk Jingles skits. Food will be provided by participants in the Student-Alumni Network Restaurant Partner Program. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be hosted inside of the Adams Alumni Center.

If you are an alumnus of KU or a member of the Lawrence community who wants to relive that freshman year (without the “freshman 15” adding to your waistline) or who wants to experience what you might have missed because Intro Psyc never fit your schedule or college just wasn’t your “thing,” then come to INTRO PSYC  in the Jayspace in the Kansas Union. Meet & Greet with Kansas Athletics

4-5 p.m.
South Park

Stop by South Park on the east side of Massachusetts Street on Friday, Oct. 6 from 4-5 p.m. to meet and take pictures with the KU Spirit Squad. Kansas Athletics will provide a bounce house and yard games for kids and families.


Homecoming Parade

6 p.m.
Massachusetts Street

The traditional Homecoming Parade takes place on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence. The parade begins at South Park and includes theme-based floats, vehicles and banners from KU student groups and organizations. Ex.C.E.L. finalists will be showcased in the parade led by the Marching Jayhawks.

Pack the Park: KU Soccer vs. Kansas State
Sunflower Showdown presented by Dillons

7 p.m.
Rock Chalk Park

Pack the park for KU soccer! The first-ever soccer Sunflower Showdown takes place at Rock Chalk Park and will include a “Far Post Tailgate” with inflatables, music, food trucks, and more. Giveaways include a limited-edition 2017 Kansas Soccer scarf and an authentic Kansas Soccer jersey.
