When legislators are not in Topeka, they often hold legislative forums or attend public breakfasts and town hall-style meetings in their home communities. We encourage JHE members to attend these events to talk with legislators about higher education, specifically the great work the University of Kansas is doing throughout our state.
Many lawmakers announce their forums via their Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as through their email newsletters. We recommend that JHE members follow their local representatives and senators on social media and subscribe to their newsletters to learn about these events. As the forums are scheduled in various cities during the 2018 Legislative session, we will list dates and details on this page.
In addition, KU’s state relations director Kelly Reynolds will share legislative updates at monthly brown bag lunches for faculty, staff members and students on the Lawrence campus. We encourage campus advocates to join JHE and communicate with their legislators via their personal email accounts.
Each lunch will include time for questions and conversation. Coffee and soft drinks will be provided.
All lunches are noon to 1 p.m. Click on each date below for more information or to add it to your calendar.
