About Us

Mission Statement
The KU Alumni Association exists to strengthen the University of Kansas by informing, engaging and mobilizing the KU community.

Vision Statement
The Association must be a consistently growing, active and powerful KU community that creates impact for the University.

Why Join?
Your membership in the KU Alumni Association is the single most powerful way to make all of KU stronger, including the value of your own degree. Through your membership, the Association:

  • Enhances student recruitment by signaling to the best and brightest that a powerful affiliation exists worldwide in support of the University
  • Increases the value of your KU degree by highlighting the accomplishments and commitment of Jayhawks
  • Preserves KU’s distinctive, nationally known traditions and helps students understand that being a Jayhawk is a lifelong commitment
  • Provides an avenue through which informed advocates for KU can voice their opinions and be heard by KU leaders and politicians
  • Grows a larger network of Jayhawks who can help fellow Jayhawks in an increasingly competitive world

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of 15 to 30 members, the number of which may vary from time to time by resolution of the Board. The Board meets three times annually in the fall, winter, and during Commencement weekend each May. Directors will be selected from dues-paying members of the Association who are not employed by the University of Kansas. Between July 1 of each year and March 1 of the following year, the Association solicits nominations for the Board from the KU community, including dues-paying members, University administrators, faculty and staff, and affiliated organizations. All nominees will be considered between March 15 and April 30 by the Nominating Committee, which is appointed by the national chair. The committee will forward to the entire Board a slate of a least four nominees for consideration at the May meeting. Newly elected directors begin their five-year terms of office on July 1 of each year.

Association Staff
President Kevin Corbett and his staff of more than 40 work hard to produce outstanding alumni programs, publish the Kansas Alumni magazine, maintain the Association's database of more than 440,000 records and keep the Adams Alumni Center running smoothly. Staff photos and bios can be viewed online.
