Let's get started! There is no limit to the fun and exciting events your chapter can plan and enjoy. Chapters across the country attend art exhibitions, plan outings and even take boat cruises. Here are a few popular ideas.
Golf Tournament
A little friendly competition, these are a great way to raise money for the Association and the Alumni Excellence Endowment.
Jayhawk Generations Welcome Picnic
These events are held locally the summer before incoming freshmen and transfer students leave for Lawrence. Here alumni get the chance to wish students well and tell them more about the exciting adventures that await incoming students at KU. Make sure to welcome their parents as well, and include SAA students who can answer questions and become mentors. We would also like to invite current KU students from the area as well as prospective high school sophomores and juniors.
Membership
Help us gather the flock. Host a membership "social hour" or party. See the Membership section of your Chapter Handbook for additional details and ideas.

Summer Picnic
For a family-oriented gathering of 'Hawks, take advantage of the nice weather and plan everything from relay races to BBQs. Take the event indoors, and learn more about what's going on from University speakers.
Watch Party
Held in a KU-friendly venue, Jayhawks gather at their favorite pub or restaurant to cheer on the crimson and blue! The Association will provide spirit kits, e-mail notices and online updates for these events.
Welcome Party
This event is held for the new grad who has decided to start his or her career in your city. The Association can provide a list of students who have chosen your city as a place to call home.
Wine Tasting/Professional Networking
Network in a fun and informal setting. Wine tastings can be more than just a social event, so encourage members to bring business cards and resumes. The KU network is an invaluable resource with successful alumni specializing in a variety of fields. Over a select vintage, meet fellow 'Hawks and make business connections.
Young Alumni
Young alumni networking socials or simply social events are a great way to get recent grads involved in your chapter and the Association at large. Networking socials often include representatives from local businesses or career development speakers.
Thirsty Third Thursdays
TGIT. Several chapters host these events regularly. Many chapters choose to vary the location each month to a new restaurant or pub. These events are purely social and are a nice way to connect with alumni in a relaxed setting.
Educational
Bring notable alumni or KU faculty to your area for public symposiums, panel discussions or question and answer sessions. These are designed to provide alumni with continued access to KU's educational resources away from the Hill.
Legislative (Kansas chapters only)
Support KU in the capital by educating fellow alumni on the priorities of the next legislative session or by hosting state representatives at chapter receptions.
