Since 1883, the KU Alumni Association has built one of the most influential and active associations of former students and friends nationally. One of the clearest lessons of American higher education is that it takes leadership and involvement of both alumni and friends to build a world-class university.

The KU Alumni Association exists to strengthen the University of Kansas by creating a consistently growing, active and powerful KU community that creates impact for the University by:

  • Identifying new volunteer leaders
  • Building stronger recruitment efforts
  • Educating KU students on the alumni tradition of Kansas
  • Engaging greater numbers of alumni and students
  • Developing a more well-informed alumni base
  • Enriching the alumni experience of all KU graduates
  • Increasing the value of the KU degree

This past year the KU Alumni Association met these goals by achieving the following:

  • Hosting 120 events in 90 days during our summer 2011 'Hawk Days of Summer tour, including picnics welcoming incoming freshmen to the KU family
  • Increasing our network of chapters to 63 across the nation and two internationally, with eight more international chapters in the works
  • Including all 105 counties in Kansas in one of 21 chapters across the state
  • Engaging volunteers in student recruitment efforts and legislative advocacy
  • Building a base of more than 1,000 active volunteers, a new record for KU
  • Establishing strong career programs for the Student Alumni Association to better prepare students for life after KU
  • Growing affinity and academic programs to engage a greater number of Jayhawks with different interests
  • Hosting 515 total events in 2011, a new record for the KU Alumni Association

The KU Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association have created The Presidents Club as an opportunity for alumni and friends to help with these critical endeavors. To make an immediate impact, The Presidents Club recognizes annual gifts of $1,000, $3,000, $5,000 and $10,000 or more in support of the Alumni Association’s goal to build a larger, more powerful network of Jayhawks worldwide.

Members of The Presidents Club provide annual resources that allow the Alumni Association to support current and new programs for the benefit of the University of Kansas and the KU community.

Membership in The Presidents Club is an investment that supports all areas of the University of Kansas. For more information about endowed funds for the Alumni Association, contact the Endowment Association's development director, Angie Storey, at 785-832-7483 or toll free at 800-444-4201.
