Woodward Scholarship

How do you qualify for a $4,000 Woodward Scholarship?

  • Be a current Kansas Honor Scholar
  • Turn in a combined application for KU admission and scholarships by the Dec. 1 deadline

Yes, it's that easy. In 1997 the Herbert Rucker Woodward Memorial Scholarship Fund was established. Woodward was an architect for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a Chanute, Kan., native. He bequeathed the fund to KU along with a donation to the School of Medicine and the KU Alumni Association.

Each year two $4,000 scholarships are awarded from the pool of approximately 3,600 Kansas Honor Scholars.* One male and one female candidate will be chosen by a selection committee from the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. Candidates are selected based on the Office of Admissions and Scholarships standard selection process. To be considered, simply apply to KU and fill out the combined Admission and Scholarships Form.

Please note: There is no need to mention the Woodward scholarship in the KU application. Students will be automatically entered into a pool with other Kansas Honor Scholars.

*The four-year stipend will be distributed in $500 installments for each semester at KU.
