A massive, four-summer rehabilitation of Jayhawk Boulevard, from plumbing to plumage, is well underway, and visitors should plan to leave extra time to navigate their way across campus. This summer’s construction stretches from just west of the Chi Omega Fountation to Strong Hall. Also underway is a reconstruction of 15th Street/Bob Billings Parkway, from Crestline Drive, north of the Lied Center, to Engel Road, at the north entrance to Daisy Hill residence halls.
Detours and road closures are too numerous to detail: In general, plan to approach campus from either 23rd Street to the south or Ninth Street to the north, or the Oread Neighborhood to the east. Access to the Kansas Union parking garage remains unchanged, from both Oread Avenue, in front of the Adams Alumni Center, and Mississippi Street.
Construction is expected to continue right up to the start of fall classes. The second phase, from Strong Hall to Watson Library, will begin immediately after Commencement 2014.
