For the fourth consecutive year, Miles Schnaer’s Crown Toyota, Volkswagen of Lawrence has partnered with the KU Alumni Association and will serve as a presenting sponsor and the exclusive auto dealer partner of the KU Homecoming celebration. The annual event, which began Saturday, Oct. 19, with the theme, “Far Above the Golden Valley,” is organized by the Alumni Association and features a weeklong series of student and alumni activities, including competitions, reunions, tailgates and the Homecoming Parade. The celebration culminates with the KU football game against Texas Tech Saturday, Oct. 26, in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Best Western Plus West Lawrence and KU Bookstore join Crown Toyota, Volkswagen in supporting this year’s event.
The dealership also returns as a sponsor and exclusive auto dealer partner of the Alumni Association’s postseason basketball activities in 2020. In recent years, Crown has teamed up with the Association during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and showcased its Crown Jayhawk Car, a KU-themed RAV4, at select sites to support the Jayhawks in the tournament.
Crown also will participate in the Alumni Association’s Rock Chalk Ball for the second consecutive year. The Association’s largest fundraising event provides support for student and alumni programs, including the Jayhawk Career Network and the Student Alumni Network.
“Crown has been one of our most loyal partners, and we’re thrilled to continue working with them,” said Heath Peterson, d’04, g’09, Alumni Association president. “Thanks to their dedication and support, we can engage KU alumni, students and fans at Homecoming and other Association events throughout the year.”
“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Alumni Association this year,” said Miles Schnaer, owner of Crown. “Traditions like Homecoming, postseason basketball and the Rock Chalk Ball align perfectly with Crown’s goal to connect with the Jayhawk community.”
