Flying Jayhawks program provides the trip of a lifetime

Did you know that you can travel the world with fellow Jayhawks? Our alumni travel program, Flying Jayhawks, offers graduates, former students, families and friends the chance to enjoy KU camaraderie through discovery, adventure and education.

Chuck, d’66, l’69, and Diana Frickey recently toured Iceland and Greenland as part of a trip provided by the Gohagan Company, a Flying Jayhawks partner since 2005.

Chuck sent a picture of their zodiac boat group enjoying refreshments at an iceberg bar as they sailed in front of a glacier. He is sporting his Jayhawk spirit with a cap, and his wife is seated behind him. Chuck says, “This was a very interesting trip, and we enjoyed meeting another Flying Jayhawk and sharing with her the bottle of wine the Association so kindly had waiting in our cabin when we boarded the ship.”

The tour included a diverse group of travelers: 86 people represented various alumni groups, and there were also a number of French and Chinese citizens aboard the ship.

Chuck added that the trip was an excellent adventure that involved both physical and mental exertion. “We recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing remote areas,” he says, “and we consider it our ‘trip of a lifetime.'”
