Alumna challenges superhero conventions with new YouTube series | University Daily Kansan

An episodic superhero comedy web-series, “The Adventures of Botfly,” is the work of current students and alumni and was conceptualized and written by Chloe Burns, a 2018 University alumna of Film and Media Studies. Burns, inspired by the recent superhero film renaissance, wanted to put her own take on the genre into action. In the series, she portrays the titular character, Botfly.

History graduate students receive prestigious Fulbright-Hays fellowships | Illinois College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Cassandra Osei, c’15, and Billy Keniston, doctoral students in the Department of History at of Illinois, each applied for the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship knowing that the chances they would win the competitive fellowship were extremely slim.
After months of waiting, however, they were surprised to learn that they both were accepted into the program.

Rob Riggle affirms love for KU in Distinguished Alumni speech | University Daily Kansan

Rob Riggle, c’93, affirmed his love for the University of Kansas and his home state during “An Evening with Rob Riggle” hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences where he accepted the Distinguished Alumni Award. “I’m very proud to be a Jayhawk,” Riggle said. “Everywhere I go, I wear my Jayhawk hat or my Jayhawk shirt or I’m talking about the Jayhawks or I’m bragging about the Jayhawks because it is a wonderful place, and I want more people to know about it.”
