Jessica Nelson | www.kualumni.orgTwenty-nine of Kansas City’s most outstanding female civic and business leaders will be honored tonight for their contributions to the metro’s creative, entrepreneurial and nonprofit communities. Jayhawk Jessica Nelson is one of them.

Nelson, j’11, is director of Kansas City Area Development Council’s (KCADC) talent recruitment initiative, TeamKC: Life + Talent. She heads up the organization’s communication strategies, promoting Kansas City as a top lifestyle and business destination. KCADC ranked as “Best in the Class” in the nation by Development Counselors International, thanks in part to Nelson’s efforts.

In addition to her work with KCADC, Nelson serves on the board of directors for the Alumni Association’s Kansas City network, Art Bra KC and the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Public Relations Society. She also serves as a mentor to young Kansas City professionals through Project Mentor and was the recipient of the 2014 Bill DeLay Award for distinguished service to the Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America Chapter.

“We are so lucky to have Jessica’s leadership on our Kansas City alumni network board,” says Betsy Winetroub, c’05, director of the Association’s Kansas City programs. “She brings a diverse knowledge of Kansas City to the group, and has helped us to expand our audience and our reach with her creative ideas, contacts and relationships. She loves KU, and her pride in her alma mater is clear with her efforts on behalf of the Alumni Association.”
