The beloved fountain on the west end of Jayhawk Boulevard recently made a list of the top 15 most picturesque fountains on college campuses, according to Lawnstarter.
The fountain, a memorial to Chi Omega alumnae, was authorized in 1952 on the 50th anniversary of the founding of Lambda chapter. It cost $11,800 to build; students, alumni and friends raised $5,000 and the Elizabeth M. Watkins Fund at KU Endowment contributed the balance.
It was dedicated April 23, 1955, and has since become a popular spot for selfies and, on some occasions, swimming.
