As a way of highlighting KU’s global reach, the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars sponsors an annual “Picture the World” photo contest featuring photographs taken by alumni, students, faculty and staff traveling abroad, or by visiting scholars and international students and alumni who want to share a bit of their faraway homes with the campus community. Past prizewinners have had their work featured at the Kansas Union, the Art and Design Gallery, the Lawrence Public Library and in Kansas Alumni (“Global Snapshot,” issue No. 2, 2009).
Entries for the 2014 contest will be accepted March 24 to April 4 at the Office of International Programs in 300 Strong Hall. Alumni photographers have their own division, and photos can be entered in five categories: people, places, cultural traces, flora and fauna, and black & white/monochromatic. Photographs must be taken outside the United States and submitted as either film or digital prints.
Selected photos will be exhibited at Watson Library, with an opening reception April 10. For complete rules and a look at the 2013 winners, visit http://international.ku.edu/photocontest.
