Alumni and fans who are game planning for fall football Saturdays, if you don’t have a parking pass that gets you near Memorial Stadium, then the city of Lawrence can help you call the right audible: Parking at the city garages in the 900 block of New Hampshire and on the lower-level ramps at the Riverfront Mall, in the 600 block of New Hampshire, will be free for all seven game-weekend Saturdays.

After dropping in on a favorite old downtown haunt for a bit of pre-gaming, bus service will be available to and from the stadium for $1, starting two hours before kickoff and running until at least an hour after the game. City buses displaying “No. 11 Downtown/Football Service” signs will pick up and drop off passengers next to the U.S. Bank building at Ninth and Mass, in front of the Riverfront garage, in front of the senior center at Eighth and Vermont, and Memorial Stadium. Buses will continue to run after the games as long as post-game passengers are at the loading area.

The city also hopes to have to its new parking garage, between the library and senior center on Vermont Street, open in time for the first home game, Sept. 7 vs. South Dakota.
