Crown Toyota, Volkswagen returns as sponsor of KU Homecoming, Alumni Association events

For the fourth consecutive year, Miles Schnaer’s Crown Toyota, Volkswagen of Lawrence has partnered with the KU Alumni Association and will serve as a presenting sponsor and the exclusive auto dealer partner of the KU Homecoming celebration. The annual event, which began Saturday, Oct. 19, with the theme, “Far Above the Golden Valley,” is organized by the Alumni Association and features a weeklong series of student and alumni activities, including competitions, reunions, tailgates and the Homecoming Parade. The celebration culminates with the KU football game against Texas Tech Saturday, Oct. 26, in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Best Western Plus West Lawrence and KU Bookstore join Crown Toyota, Volkswagen in supporting this year’s event.

The dealership also returns as a sponsor and exclusive auto dealer partner of the Alumni Association’s postseason basketball activities in 2020. In recent years, Crown has teamed up with the Association during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and showcased its Crown Jayhawk Car, a KU-themed RAV4, at select sites to support the Jayhawks in the tournament.

Crown also will participate in the Alumni Association’s Rock Chalk Ball for the second consecutive year. The Association’s largest fundraising event provides support for student and alumni programs, including the Jayhawk Career Network and the Student Alumni Network.

Truity Credit Union extends partnership with KU Alumni Association

Truity Credit Union, which first partnered with the KU Alumni Association in 2017, has entered into a multi-year commitment with the Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Network to serve as the exclusive financial services partner of Home Football Fridays, TGIT receptions for faculty and staff, and the KU Vets Day 5K, Sunday, Nov. 10, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

The next Home Football Friday lunch for students will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 30 on the front lawn of the Adams Alumni Center, 1266 Oread Ave. on the Lawrence campus. The events, hosted by the Student Alumni Network, occur on Fridays in conjunction with home games throughout the season and feature free food, beverages and cookies from eight area restaurants in the Student Alumni Network’s Restaurant Partner Program. Truity Credit Union’s generous support will fund prizes and giveaways during these events, as well as the annual Student Alumni Network T-shirt, which is provided to students at no charge.

The Alumni Association will welcome KU faculty and staff to the Alumni Center for TGIT receptions from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19, Oct. 10 and Nov. 21 during the fall semester and Feb. 20, March 19 and April 9 during the spring 2020 semester. The receptions will include drink specials, snacks and giveaways.

Alumni Association renews partnership with Best Western Plus West Lawrence hotel

For the second consecutive year, Best Western Plus West Lawrence, one of six hotel properties in the Wichita-based Hospitality Development of America portfolio, has partnered with the University of Kansas Alumni Association. The hotel, which opened in fall 2018, is adjacent to the Rock Chalk Park complex in west Lawrence and will serve as a presenting sponsor and exclusive hotel partner of KU’s 107th Homecoming, Oct. 19-26.

INTRUST Bank, a longtime financial services provider in the Midwest, is serving as the title sponsor of the 2019 Rock Chalk Ball, the University of Kansas Alumni Association’s largest annual fundraising event, April 27 at the Kansas City Convention Center. Hosted by the Greater Kansas City Alumni Network, the event raises funds for the Alumni Association’s alumni and student programs, including the Jayhawk Career Network.

INTRUST Bank is also the exclusive banking sponsor for the 2019 “Game Day at the Adams” football tailgates at the Adams Alumni Center. The financial institution, which for decades has partnered with the Alumni Association to provide Jayhawk credit cards to KU alumni, will also support the Association with a Presidents Club contribution.

As a presenting sponsor of this year’s event, KJO Media will provide professional media and video services and help capture the spirit of the 24th-annual KU Kansas City tradition.

For the third consecutive year, Kansas City-based Charlie Hustle has partnered with the University of Kansas Alumni Association. The apparel company, which offers distinctive collegiate and KU-themed designs, will serve as a presenting sponsor of the 2019 Rock Chalk Ball, the Alumni Association’s largest annual fundraiser, April 27 at the Kansas City Convention Center. The event raises funds for alumni and student programs, including the Jayhawk Career Network.

Charlie Hustle also continues to work with the Alumni Association on its 2019 Member APPreciation Month, a promotion that highlights the Association’s mobile app and celebrates member loyalty with a unique Charlie Hustle KU T-shirt, available exclusively to members only in February. In addition, the relationship includes marketing of the Charlie Hustle KU Collegiate Collection throughout the year in alumni communications.

KU Alumni Association announces partnership with Nationwide Insurance

As part of a five-year agreement, alumni will be eligible for special discounts on auto insurance and will receive additional savings when auto and home insurance policies are bundled. KU Alumni Association announces partnership with Lawrence Hy-Vee grocery stores

Two Lawrence Hy-Vee supermarkets, with locations on Sixth Street and on Clinton Parkway, have partnered with the University of Kansas Alumni Association to sponsor several alumni programs and events, including:

  • The KU Student Alumni Network Restaurant Partner Program, which supports Home Football Fridays, Trunk or Treat on Oct. 26, Connect on Campus events, Big Jay’s Recess and Finals Dinners. Hy-Vee will also support the new Jayhawk Impact Award, created by the Student Alumni Network and the Student Involvement & Leadership Center to recognize KU students who have made substantial contributions to the University.
  • The University’s 106th Homecoming celebration, which begins Saturday, Sept. 22, with the theme, “Home on the Hill,” and features a weeklong series of student and alumni activities, culminating in the KU vs. Oklahoma State football game Sept. 29 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
  • The KU Veteran’s Day 5K run, Sunday, Nov. 11, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Hy-Vee is the platinum-level grocery store sponsor and will also host the run’s Recovery Zone.
  • The Rock Chalk Ball, the Alumni Association’s largest annual fundraising event, in spring 2019, which supports Association and Student Alumni Network programs and activities. Hy-Vee is the exclusive floral provider and will also donate a package for the Silent Auction.
  • The Gold Medal Club Reunion Weekend, May 3-4, 2019, which celebrates alumni who have passed their 50th anniversary of graduation. Hy-Vee will cater the welcome and reunion lunches during the event.

Best Western Plus West Lawrence, one of the newest hotel properties in the Wichita-based Hospitality Development of America portfolio, has partnered with the University of Kansas Alumni Association to sponsor several upcoming alumni events, including the 2018 “Game Day at the Adams” football tailgates at the Adams Alumni Center and the 2018-’19 Presidents Club basketball pre-game activities. The $14.5 million hotel, which is scheduled to open this fall, is adjacent to the Rock Chalk Park complex in west Lawrence and will serve as the exclusive hotel sponsor for these events.
